The time has come to say goodbye

Dear parents/carers and learners

Well, the time has come to say goodbye. This is my last day as headteacher whilst the school is open to learners.

I wanted to express my gratitude to you all for your unstinting support of me as Headteacher for the last 6 years and also of course, during my time as Deputy Head previously.

I have loved working at Ysgol Bryn Elian and this is because of the amazing learners and staff who I encounter everyday. Of course, as you would expect, there have been some difficult times none more so than having to re-invent the school during and after Covid. Throughout this time I was in awe of the staff and learners at the school who seamlessly adapted to so many big and radical changes. You, as parents were also great throughout, supporting us through this difficult time. The passionate and caring side of our staff saw us through this difficult time. My Senior Leadership Team have also been an ever present source of balance and inspiration in equal measure. I will miss everyone tremendously.

The next few years of semi-retirement allow me to do something out of education before I fully retire. I will, however, still be involved in education to some degree and will be working alongside GwE, the North Wales School Improvement Service as an External Validator/Verifier for Newly Qualified Teachers and will also, following some training, be an assessor for the IQM who awarded Ysgol Bryn Elian The Centre of Excellence Status in 2O22, an award we kept hold of for 2023 also.

May I wish everyone associated with Ysgol Bryn Elian, especially the learners the very best of wishes in the future and I hope our paths will cross again at some point soon.

Have a great Summer holiday, take care and stay safe.

Kindest regards,

Mr Dave Humphreys

Headteacher - (Well, until the end of August at least!)
